This project explores Juneteenth as a moment of both remembrance and forward movement, honoring freedom, resilience, and new beginnings through visual symbolism. The centerpiece of the poster is a constellation that forms the shape of a bird in flight, representing liberation, hope, and the act of rising beyond imposed boundaries. By using a constellation, the design also references guidance, ancestry, and the long journey toward freedom—acknowledging that this moment was not sudden, but earned through time, struggle, and perseverance. A predominantly blue color palette was chosen to evoke the sky, openness, ease, and a sense of calm, reinforcing the idea of freedom as both physical and emotional space. Typography plays a conceptual role in the composition: stretched letterforms symbolize the extended and difficult process it took to reach freedom, reflecting endurance, tension, and progress over time. Together, these elements create a celebratory yet reflective poster that honors Juneteenth not only as a historical milestone, but as an ongoing journey toward equity, healing, and collective liberation.
